Scotch Plains Fanwood Baseball League Hosted Annual Fundraiser on Friday, May 8, 2015, at Italian American Club
SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Scotch Plains Fanwood Baseball League (SPFBL) hosted its annual fundraising dinner on Friday, May 8th, 2015 at the Italian American Club, 1976 Valley Ave. in Scotch Plains.
This year, SPFBL celebrates its 60th anniversary. Over the past six decades, the league has served Scotch Plains and Fanwood families, and thousands of players from the pre-K to high school levels. SPFBL is an instructional league that emphasizes good sportsmanship, team building, individual skill/player development, and lasting friendships.
"The harsh winter resulted in a lot of erosion at Booth Field and necessary repairs in and around the building and the snack hut at the field," said Neil Kaufman, president of SPFBL. "We are able to keep our fees comparatively low, compared to other sports that don't incur the expenses of field upkeep, because of the success of this annual fundraiser. I encourage parents of players in the league as well as other friends of the league to support this dinner, which happens to be a lot of fun."
The proceeds from the dinner will benefit the players by providing new equipment and making major repairs to the league-owned Booth Field and its grounds. A portion of the money raised will offset the costs of the league's travel program expenses. The evening featured a hot buffet dinner, beer, wine and soft drinks, and desserts, along with live DJ . There were tricky trays and silent auctions for great prizes.
Thank you to all of our supporters for making it a night to remember!
