2016 District-12 10U Championship Tournament
Playoffs begin Tue, 6/28!!

OFFICIAL RESULTS, CONFIRMED BY DISTRICT COMMISSIONER

Per the official tournament tiedbreaker rules, here are the playoff seedings:

Pool A:

  • A1=Millburn-Short Hills
  • A2=Chatham
  • A3=Scotch Plains-Fanwood

Pool A Commentary:

Millburn-Short Hills was the only undefeated team in Pool A, so they got the A1 seed.  Then we had 4 teams tied 2-2 records.  Following tournament tiebreaker rules, we looked at head-to-head competition.  When there are more than 2 teams in a tiebreaker, the definitive question is: Did any team in the tiebreaker beat every other team in the tiebreaker?  Because if they did, then they clearly showed they had beaten every other team in the tiebreaker head-to-head.  However that was not the case here.  SO, we move onto the next tiebreaker which is Least Runs Allowed.  This placed Chatham into the A2 seed.  That leaves 3 teams still tied at 2-2 for the A3 seed.  Again we go to the tiebreaker rules, starting with the head-to-head competition.  Again, there was no clear cut victor who beat every other team in the tiebreaker head-to-head.  SO, we again move onto the Least Runs Allowed tiedbreaker.  This placed Scotch Plains-Fanwood into the A3 seed.

Pool B:

  • B1=Cranford
  • B2=New Providence
  • B3=South Orange/Maplewood

Pool B Commentary:

Cranford was the only undefeated team in Pool B, so they got the B1 seed.  Then we had 2 teams tied 3-1 records.  Following tournament tiebreaker rules, we looked at head-to-head competition.  In this case, there were only 2 teams in the tiebreaker.  So the question is, did the 2 teams play each and if so was there a winner?  The answer is YES: New Providence beat South Orange/Maplewood in pool play, so this placed New Providence into the B2 seed.  That leaves South Orange/Maplewood at 3-1 for the B3 seed.
